Carbon Projects

At Climate.aero, our carbon offset portfolio focuses on two main types of projects that deliver substantial environmental and social benefits:

  1. Nature-Based Solutions – These include projects such as planting biodiverse forests, climate reforestation, and initiatives that prevent deforestation.
  2. Community-Based Energy Efficiency Projects – These include projects like Improved Cookstoves, which enhance energy efficiency and support local development.

Each project in our portfolio has been carefully selected for its proven ability to reduce carbon emissions while promoting biodiversity conservation and community well-being.

Deforestation Prevention and Reforestation Projects

Forests are essential ecosystems, playing a pivotal role in capturing and storing carbon while sustaining a diverse range of species. Our Deforestation Prevention and Reforestation Projects protect these crucial resources from threats like illegal logging and land conversion. Through these initiatives, we aim to achieve the following:

  • Protecting Carbon Sinks: Preventing deforestation helps maintain forests as effective carbon sinks, which absorb CO₂ from the atmosphere, mitigating climate change.
  • Supporting Biodiversity: These projects safeguard habitats for countless species, preserving biodiversity and ensuring ecosystem stability.
  • Empowering Local Communities: We provide alternative livelihoods and education to local communities, creating incentives for long-term forest conservation and sustainable land management.

By supporting these projects, we help preserve some of the world’s most valuable natural habitats, promoting a sustainable balance between human activity and environmental stewardship.

Improved Cookstove Projects

In many regions, traditional cooking methods rely on open fires or inefficient stoves, leading to severe environmental and health impacts. Over 700 million people in Africa alone use three-stone fires, which are highly inefficient and a leading cause of forest degradation. Furthermore, burning wood creates more carbon emissions each year than the entire economy of the United Kingdom.

Climate.aero partners with projects that provide Improved Cookstoves as a cleaner, more efficient solution. These stoves reduce the need for wood fuel, significantly decreasing emissions and improving the health and well-being of families. Key benefits include:

  • Significant Carbon Reductions: By using less wood or charcoal, these stoves decrease carbon dioxide emissions, contributing to climate change mitigation.
  • Improved Health and Safety: Reduced indoor smoke pollution lowers the risk of respiratory diseases, providing safer living conditions.
  • Economic and Social Upliftment: These projects often utilize locally sourced materials, creating jobs and stimulating local economies. Families also save time and money by needing less fuel.

By focusing on these projects, we ensure a sustainable future where cleaner cooking technologies foster healthier families and more resilient communities.

Partnering with Trusted Standards: VERRA and Gold Standard

At Climate.aero, we prioritize working with trusted certification bodies such as VERRA and Gold Standard to ensure that every carbon credit we provide represents real, impactful emissions reductions. The benefits of partnering with these organizations include:

  • Certified Projects: All projects are validated and certified to internationally recognized standards.
  • Real and Measurable Impact: Emissions reductions are quantified, measurable, and permanent.
  • Additionality: Each project’s emissions reductions are above and beyond what would have occurred without the initiative.
  • Independently Verified: All project activities and impact data are verified by independent third-party auditors, ensuring credibility.
  • Unique and Traceable: All certified impacts are transparently tracked in a public registry, ensuring credits are not double-counted or claimed by other parties.

By investing in our carbon offset projects, you are supporting initiatives that contribute to a healthier planet and a more sustainable future. Explore our portfolio to learn more about how you can make a difference today.

See if Climate.aero is right for you

If you opt for our 'set and forget' compensation program, we offer three compensation levels: Silver, Gold and Platinum Partner. With this program, you will only be billed for compensation when your aircraft has been flying, eliminating fixed costs. Additionally, we handle all the calculations and procurement of SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) credits and voluntary carbon credits on your behalf.

It's worth noting that the cost for compensating is very small compared to the total operation costs of an aircraft, typically representing only a few percent of the total. When you decide to 'start compensating,' you can easily obtain a cost estimation tailored to your particular aircraft and average number of flights per month. This process involves just a few simple steps, and the cost estimation is completely free and non-binding.

For aircraft owners already utilizing a third-party compensation program, we offer the option to publish their compensation amounts for free. If you wish to have these figures accredited by us, a small membership fee is charged.

Using Climate.aero to document CO2 compensation enhances an aircraft's reputation and can increase its resale value. An aircraft with a proven compensation history not only benefits the current owner's reputation but also positively impacts the reputation of any future owner, making it more valuable than a similar aircraft without such a history.
